At the core of the Kit Focus Philosophy is a method of cognitive meditation that helps students with learning difficulties to develop their concentration, self confidence, posture, and decision-making skills.
Kit Focus’ cognitive mediation is based on a series of exercises that use tokens exclusively. These versatile and mobile tokens can help your child in the classroom and beyond.
Flexibility in the Mind and Body
Our activities develop reflexes, physical instincts, and speed of execution. Additional activities foster mental coordination and flexibility.
Developing Concentration and Memory
One of our activities includes hiding a token. This hidden token arouses interest, lends itself to a mental representation, and encourages the students to focus on themselves, their memories and their senses. All of our activities encourage students to reflect on their physical movements and gestures, on their attention spans, and on their mental processing and focus.
Kit Focus workshops include imitation-based communication. These exchanges activate mirror neurons and encourage reciprocation. More broadly, The Kit Focus method creates a sense of coexistence and cooperation in a welcoming, respectful, space so that the student can develop their communication skills.
Mastering Mental Mathematics
We focus our efforts on the gradual improvement of rapid mental math calculations. We use the versatility of the tokens to illustrate the properties of numbers. As students manipulate the physical tokens they naturally work towards the solutions of mathematical problems. We guarantee results for children as young as five years old when treating those with Dyscalculia. We teach children to calculate by showing them how to manipulate numbers in their minds–breaking up and regrouping numbers for simpler calculations.
Mastering Simple Geometry
We believe that to learn geometry students must first have an intuitive knowledge of the basics: points, angles and distance. All of our activities develop focus and encourage the student to create mental representations in their minds. They use these mental images to imagine the relative distance between points, and also the possible transformation of shapes. This is true knowledge of the nature of geometry.
Problem-solving is at the heart of the elementary school years. It’s during problem-solving that the child engages in identifying the clues that will enable them to determine the nature of the problem. Using the tokens as a tool, the children can organise their thoughts with the help of a visual representation. The token then acts as a bridge between the clues and the knowledge, and between the problem and the solution. It is on this representation that the Kit Focus method is based: the token is a physical tool that allows the student to manipulate abstract concepts. Thus, the link is made between practice and logic, manipulation and understanding. The child completes the process, at their own pace, and uses the tokens to illustrate the process.

Mastering sentence structure
We offer a range of exercises to develop a student’s ability to create and articulate sentences, while understanding the relationships between words and how they work together to create meaning. These activities are appropriate for students of all ages.
Mastering spelling and syntax
Using precise and clear language, our language teachers explain the rules of spelling, syntax, and other essentials for good writing.
Developing literary expression
Imagination is at the heart of many of the activities that we engage in with our students. Developing imagination, and learning how to express it, will serve to fuel English compositions.
We explore the concrete link between thought and writing…
The preschool years are essential for the child. The child begins to become familiar with sounds, symbols and writing, and it’s also a time to engage their curiosity in words and reading. The tokens become the sounds, syllables, words in the connection between expression and imagination. Using the tokens to create sentences allows the child to become comfortable with English syntax and the small, essential words that make up the language. The objective, during these activities, is for the child to experience the pleasure of the language.
